I checked out this bridal fair at Suntec City Convention Centre. This isn’t one of those huge, noisy, mega bridal fairs. Instead it has a respectable number of booths with services more tailored to giving you a complete wedding experience. I went this morning just as the booths are putting on the final touches.

Yú shēng (鱼生) is served as an appetizer to bring good luck for the new year and is usually eaten on the seventh day of the Chinese New Year. In a tradition known as “lo hei” (Cantonese 捞起), families and friends gather around the table and toss the shredded ingredients into the air with chopsticks while saying auspicious wishes out loud to mark the start of a prosperous new year.

Every Singaporean knows about this place in Katong. This is where the “Laksa Wars” have been waged for the longest time. There are several shops selling the spicy noodle soup. All claim to be the original, the first or the best. Actually most Singaporeans don’t really care who was first, only which shop serves the best. Everybody has his/her own preference and it all boils down to the taste.
